We visit with detained individuals in immigrant detention centers and in refugee camps along the US/Mexico border to offer support in places that are often filled with desperation and sorrow. These humanitarian visits are crucial to remind people that they are not forgotten.

Immigrant detention centers are not required to provide the same services as other jails or prisons in the United States. We aim to fill the gap in educational resources by providing classes and workshops in these spaces.

The number one request from people detained at immigrant detention centers is books. Our organization provides books in a variety of languages as well as books to learn English.

Essential Supplies
For trips to the border, we bring feminine hygiene products, educational supplies, and kits to make eyeglasses. The needs are vast, but these supplies go a long way to restore human dignity and offer hope.

As academics and educators, we believe it is our responsibility to not only bear witness to what is happening to immigrants and asylum-seekers, but to publicly share what we learn. We take the utmost care to guard this vulnerable population from harm while also providing a platform for their voices to be heard.
